Walking his Talk

Walking his talk..... as a toddler he listened with rapt attention as stories were read out to him. Soon he started stringing words, then sentences, pausing to ask questions about new words. Roald Dahl came much later, he devoured Tinkle's  and Archies' digests. Then one day, upset with getting his older brother's hand-me-downs, he quipped: " What do you think I am? A penniless vagrant??" Ofcourse, he had picked up the phrase from Archie responding to Veronica's barbs about not being able to spend lavishly on a date. What was truly astonishing was the correct application of the phrase...Aditya  was all of 4!

When I see his innovative and very unique resume today I am not surprised. Its all thanks to the wonderful reading habit, innate curiosity and unstinting support from his parents. They did not insist he take up science, computers or engineering; instead they nurtured, encouraged and supported his leanings towards media. Starting off as a trainee subeditor-cum-reporter with a local tabloid, he bagged a Page-1 byline on the day he started work and for someone who knew zilch about Mumbai's local trains, nooks and corners, within a few months he had impressed his editor with his unstinting and relentless devotion to responsible reporting.
